Its been..a weird week.
I had to report a suspected child abuse earlier this week, and gee, was that fun.
Plus, yesterday, we had a farewell party for the principal, who is moving to Denver. She was a student here, and then a teacher, and an assistant principal, and a principal. She is a big part of life here at Cowtown High.
I might have only been here for a couple of years, and didnt know her that well, but it hit the other staff members really hard. Lots of people got up to say something, and lots of people cried. What kept being said, over and over, is that Cowtown High is a family.
And it is, in its way.
I havent been a teacher for long, and wont be for much longer, but i have worked with nightmare principals, and teachers who wouldnt even look at me, to know how rare this is.
Our principal isnt evil or holds an iron fist. She asks for our opinions. She listens.
She stood up for us when half the teachers in the school had a sick out over budget disputes.
Thats a rare thing.
And regardless of how little i like teaching right now, and how little i have left here, i think some part of me will look back on this job, and smile.
